Neurotransmitter HPLC

We use HPLC to determine the transmitter contents of fly brains in wild type and mutant Drosophila. Developed by Janusz Borycz, we are using an HPLC method for the determination of head histamine in flies, which employs OPA derivitization and either electrochemical or fluorescence detection. The same method can be used to isolate histamine metabolites, as well as to separate fractions labelled with tritium, after flies are fed or injected with tritiated histamine.
